A speedy and stable internet connection is critical for community's health, education, and economic development, yet many barriers remain. High costs, outdated infrastructure, and historically low public investments have left nearly 40 million Americans with insufficient broadband access.
President Biden has prioritized broadband access in the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, but not all communities in need have been able to access the full benefits of the legislation.
This October, Semafor will convene national stakeholders and industry leaders to discuss the biggest barriers to greater broadband connectivity. Those most impacted by inadequate broadband infrastructure will guide the event’s conversations in an effort to address the disconnect between American citizens and leaders that frequently hinders progress to bridge the digital divide.
