Zain Asher is an anchor for CNN International based in New York. She co-anchors One World with Zain Asher and Bianna Golodryga weekdays from 11am–1pm ET on CNN International. She is the author of ‘Where the Children Take Us: How One Family Achieved the Unimaginable’ (Amistad), a memoir that tells the story of her mother’s harrowing fight to raise four children as a widowed immigrant in South London. Asher also hosts Marketplace Africa, CNN International’s weekly business show about the continent and its place within global markets, regularly interviewing CEOs and world leaders for the program. She has interviewed many notable figures on One World including political leaders like Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Botswana president Mokgweetsi Masisi, Sierra Leone president Julius Maada Bio, Nigerian presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov; activist Malala Yousafzai, Ugandan musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi - also known as Bobi Wine; and UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
